McCABE UNVEILS THE MCCABE COVERAGE SERVER AT SOFTWARE AUTOMATION CONFERENCE IN SAN JOSE
SAN JOSE, CA - MARCH 5,2001 - The McCabe Coverage Server is a new product that extends the functionality of the McCabe testing process by providing a socket-based alternative for the collection of trace data. The McCabe Coverage Server is a socket-based server that accepts trace data from McCabe instrumented executables and saves the trace data on its local host. Leveraging Testing Expertise: Enables test teams to save test cases for future use. Allows previously invested expertise to provide value throughout the life of the software. The McCabe Coverage Server is the latest addition the McCabe IQ2 suite. Until the advent of the McCabe Coverage Server, the instrumentation libraries provided by McCabe Test wrote the trace data into files on a local hard disk. While this mechanism has provided adequate functionality for many classes of languages and applications, it has proven inadequate for modern development paradigms such as Java applets and ActiveX Components.
The McCabe Coverage Server is the only solution on the market today that can automatically collect testing data from client-side objects and retain the integrity of the security.
- Java, C, C++ and VB
- EJB, Applets, Servlets, Active/X Controls
- COM/DCOM and CORBA objects
- Centralized and automated results collection
- Dynamic real-time displays
Objective Quality Assessment
Software quality is most effectively measured by objective, quantifiable metrics. Numerous studies as well as standards published by NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, have proven that metrics are a reliable way of tracking risk. McCabe QA mitigates this risk by calculating insightful metrics and thereby identifying complex and error-prone code. These metrics include:
- McCabe Cyclomatic Complexity
- McCabe Essential Complexity
- Module Design Complexity
- Integration Complexity
- Lines of Code
- Halstead
Visualized Quality Improvement
The delicate nature of software quality demands constant vigilance to achieve and maintain quality goals. McCabe QA's Metric Trend reports track a system's metric values over time to document the progress made in improving the overall stability and quality of the project. Any decline in the caliber of the code can be quickly detected before further degradation occurs.
Achieved Quality Goals The tool provides a wealth of information about the status and quality of your software development project. Access to this information is crucial for accurately assessing overall software quality, identifying areas that need improvement, and focusing development and testing efforts. Valuable human and financial resources can be used in the most effective manner to secure the delivery of the highest quality products from your organization.
